Joe on Coronation Street

The August 2016 bank holiday weekend saw Joe making his debut on Coronation Street!! OK so not strictly true although he did have a starring role. Joe was asked to host one of ITV’s flagship events for I AM TEAM GB.

It was a massive nationwide Olympic celebration of the success for team GB and an opportunity to get people inspired and active, taking part in sports days all over the country. This particular event took place on the cobbles of Coronation Street and Joe was asked to host the day and keep it running smoothly.

With 200 people visiting every hour for 6 hours, this was a big undertaking and involved creating a party atmosphere. The activities also included interviewing Team GB medalists such as Marcus Ellis and Bianca Walkden who won bronze in the badminton doubles and Taikwondo respectively and Eleanor Barker Gold medalist in the women Track Cycling Team Pursuit.

Joe also interviewed and introduced a number of Corrie stars and cast members. The day ended with an impromptu conga around the cobbles of Corrie!!

Joe was the announcer for both of these having the honour of welcoming the riders into the velodrome on Live TV.

tour franceJoe has just returned from working on the Tour De France as part of the Publicity Caravan representing Skoda, one of their main sponsors, Joe had the privilege of announcing to the 3 million people that lined the streets of Yorkshire and London for stages 1-3 of the Tour De France 2014.

Joe was given the honour of hosting the inaugural opening weekend event of the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome which will host the Cycling events for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014. The opening event was called "Thunderdrome", a fabulous 3 hour exhibition session with many famous cycling names riding various track races and raising much money for the Braveheart cycling fund which helps young Scottish riders to achieve their goals. It was fast and furious and went down a storm with the sell out crowd.

Over 2 weeks in the summer I moved to Manchester and became part of the Olympic Games, yes Manchester, not London! This was due to the fact that I was host for the Olympic football matches at Old Trafford, announcing the teams and warming up the crowd.

It was strange not being in London where all the action took place but amazing to be working for the 2012 Olympic Games as an official stadium announcer and at of all places 'the theatre of dreams!!' Fabulous!!!
